Shares of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) surged over 7 per cent on the Bombay Stock Exchange after crude oil prices fell sharply in the international market.
Cheering the news, shares of the company gained as much as 7.31 per cent and touched an intra-day high of Rs 261.15 apiece on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
In a similar trend, stocks of the firm were trading at Rs 246.20 apiece, up 1.21 per cent, on the National Stock Exchange.
Meanwhile, the broader benchmark BSE Sensex was trading at 35,175.01, down 299.50 points, or 0.84 per cent, from the previous close on the BSE at 13:30 hours.
