The market continued to see profit-booking for the second consecutive day, with benchmark Sensex and Nifty falling a percent each on January 19 on weak global cues and high crude prices.
Asian Paints, Shree Cements, Infosys, Grasim Industries and HUL were the top Nifty losers, while gainers included ONGC, Tata Motors, SBI, Coal India and UPL.
On the sectoral front, Nifty IT and FMCG indices fell 1-2 percent, while Nifty PSU bank index added 2 percent.
The 30-share benchmark index ended at 60098.82 down by -656.04 points or by -1.08 % and then NSE Nifty was at 17938.4 down by -174.65 points or by -0.96 %.
Sensex touched intraday high of 60870.17 and intraday low of 59949.22 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 18129.2 and intraday low of 17884.9
The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were State Bank of India (Rs. 515.90,+1.83%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 1208.75,+1.19%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 8008.50,+1.17%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 729.60,+0.55%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1669.10,+0.51%), among others.
The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1867.70,-2.77%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 3281.10,-2.71%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 18903.30,-2.41%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2312.00,-2.41%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 7570.30,-2.28%), among others.
