Union Minister of Coal & Mines, Shri G. Kishan Reddy, inaugurated the Coal India Limited (CIL) pavilion at the India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The event was attended by Shri Sanoj Kumar Jha, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Coal and Chairman, CIL, Shri Sanjeev Kumar Kassi and Shri Lakhpat Singh Choudhary, Joint Secretaries, Ministry of Coal, along with senior officials from the Ministry and CIL.
The pavilion highlights India’s advancements in energy security, diversification, and sustainable mining practices. Key exhibits include opencast mining technology, the use of Artificial Intelligence in coal mining, and the functioning of the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) of CIL subsidiaries. AI-driven applications showcased at the pavilion demonstrate improved operational efficiency and stronger safety compliance.
A live Virtual Reality (VR) demonstration offers visitors an immersive experience, presenting VR as a safe, cost-effective, and engaging tool for training in hazardous mining environments.
A major feature of the pavilion is the Ministry’s focus on coal gasification as a key driver for cleaner coal usage, alongside displays on CSR initiatives. The pavilion also highlights CIL’s efforts in eco-tourism and ecological restoration, as well as its strategic initiatives to secure critical minerals like lithium and cobalt both domestically and abroad—an important step towards reducing India’s import dependency.
The IITF provides an important platform for CIL to interact with stakeholders, industry partners, and the public, enhancing transparency and awareness of its role in the country’s development. The Ministry of Coal and CIL reaffirm their commitment to ensuring energy security and supporting India’s path towards sustainable and self-reliant growth.
