Indian equity markets are expected to open on a subdued note in the week’s final trading session, tracking mixed global signals. GIFT Nifty futures also point to a muted start for the benchmark indices.
As of 07:56 AM on Friday, GIFT Nifty futures were hovering flat at 26,186.
Meanwhile, market participants are closely watching the outcome of the Reserve Bank of India’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting, with the decision on key interest rates due today as the three-day meeting concludes.
On Thursday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 85265.32 up by 158.51 points or by 0.19 % and then NSE Nifty was at 26033.75 up by 47.75 points or by 0.18 %.
On the global front, markets in the Asia-Pacific traded lower on Friday after a muted session on Wall Street. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 slipped 0.17 per cent, Japan’s Nikkei 225 dropped 1.36 per cent, and South Korea’s Kospi hovered just below the flatline. Overnight in the US, Wall Street’s major indices closed on a mixed note on Thursday as traders assessed labour-market data and other economic reports, while sentiment was supported by rising expectations of a Federal Reserve rate cut next week. The S&P 500 edged up 0.11 per cent, the Nasdaq Composite added 0.22 per cent, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average dipped 0.07 per cent.
Back home, Top traded Volumes on NSE Nifty – Eternal Ltd. 31947997.00, HDFC Bank Ltd. 14528169.00, State Bank of India 13622724.00, Infosys Ltd. 12609619.00, Reliance Industries Ltd. 11867930.00, On NSE, total number of shares traded was 458.19 Crore and total turnover stood at Rs. 88337.00 Crore. On NSE Future and Options, total number of contracts traded in index futures was 96103 with a total turnover of Rs. 19004.65 Crore. Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 935460 with a total turnover of Rs. 64642.39 Crore. Total numbers of contracts for index options were 55353569 with a total turnover of Rs. 10854412.45 Crore. and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 4511399 with a total turnover of Rs. 325192.19 Crore.
The FIIs on 04/12/2025 stood as net buyer in equity and debt. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 11862.73 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 124.72 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 16615.13 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 415.86 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. -4752.40 Crore and Rs. -291.14
