National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research Raebareli (NIPER-Raebareli) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Confidential Disclosure Agreement (CDA), and Technology Transfer Agreement with Lofty Laboratories to strengthen collaboration in pharmaceutical and biotechnology research, innovation, and technology commercialisation.
The partnership aims to enhance academia-industry cooperation and facilitate the development and commercialisation of industry-ready technologies developed at NIPER-Raebareli. Both organisations have also agreed to jointly participate in research and development activities in areas of mutual interest.
Shubhini A. Saraf said the collaboration would help both institutions complement each other’s research programmes, particularly through joint participation in the Institute’s Centre of Excellence on Novel Drug Delivery Systems (CoE-NDDS). She also expressed confidence that more technologies developed at the institute would be ready for transfer in the coming months.
Meanwhile, Nihar Ranjan highlighted that the commercialisation of the current technology would significantly reduce the cost of gel-staining agents used globally in biological research, including studies related to genes, cancer, and nucleic acid-based diseases.
The institute noted that indigenous production of such advanced gel-staining agents would support the growth of India’s pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors while reducing dependency on imports.
