Axis Bank is set to bolster its presence in Gujarat by expanding its branch network, adding 28 branches and 69 ATMs during this fiscal year. This move aims to improve accessibility for the people in the state. Recently, the bank marked a significant milestone by opening its 5000th branch in Ahmedabad, exactly 29 years after establishing its inaugural branch in the same city. The inauguration of this new branch was carried out by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, with Axis Bank MD and CEO Amitabh Chaudhri and other senior officials in attendance.
Currently, Axis Bank operates 389 branches across Gujarat, distributed across various regions, including metros, urban areas, semi-urban zones, rural localities, and unbanked rural regions. The bank's initial branch, opened in 1994 under the name UTI Bank, was inaugurated by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Looking ahead, the bank is enthusiastic about its strategic expansion plans, emphasizing three key propositions: Bharat banking, digitization, and 'Sparsh'. The Bharat banking initiative is geared towards serving the banking needs of rural and semi-urban populations. Additionally, digitization remains a central focus for the bank, and 'Sparsh' is a program designed to enhance customer-centric practices and experiences within the bank, as highlighted by Axis Bank's MD and CEO Amitabh Chaudhri during a press briefing.
