State-owned BEML announced on Friday that it has received a Rs 405 crore contract from Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL).
The order involves the supply of seven additional metro trains, comprising 42 cars, for Phase 2 of the Bangalore Metro Rail Project. With this addition, the total number of trainsets under the contract will increase from 53 (318 cars) to 60 (360 cars).
Commenting on the development, Shantanu Roy, Chairman and Managing Director of BEML, said, "This additional order highlights our commitment to delivering world-class, indigenously manufactured metro solutions, in line with the Government of India's Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision."
