Coal output from Captive and Commercial mines stood at 14.43 million tonnes (MT) in August 2025, while dispatches reached 15.07 MT, according to the Ministry of Coal.
For FY 2025–26 (up to August), production has grown 11.88% year-on-year, with dispatches rising 9.12%, reflecting higher operational efficiency and better utilization of mining capacity.
The Ministry credited the improvement to strategic policy measures, close monitoring, and stakeholder support, which have accelerated approvals and boosted production capabilities.
Reaffirming its commitment, the Ministry said the focus will remain on sustaining production levels, minimizing supply disruptions, and meeting India’s growing energy demand through captive and commercial coal mining.
