Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and New & Renewable Energy, Shri Pralhad Joshi, will on September 10, 2025, in New Delhi, formally confer DGCA-approved drone type certifications recommended by the National Test House (NTH), Ghaziabad.
Under the Certification Scheme for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), NTH (NR), Ghaziabad has been provisionally approved by the Quality Council of India (QCI) as a Certification Body for drone type certification. The initiative supports the Government of India’s vision under the Drone Rules, 2021, to build a safe, reliable, and globally competitive drone ecosystem.
So far, NTH has processed over 50 applications from Indian drone makers for type certification, with two drone models already receiving DGCA approval after a rigorous evaluation process.
NTH is offering drone certification at a fee of ?4.2 lakh — the lowest in the industry — underscoring its commitment to supporting innovation while enabling Indian manufacturers to market their products confidently in domestic and international markets.
Established in 1912, NTH has played a pivotal role in India’s industrial development through services in testing, calibration, and quality evaluation across sectors including engineering, textiles, electricals, and food sciences. With drone certification now added to its portfolio, NTH is furthering its contribution to national initiatives such as Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
Marking 114 years of service, NTH continues to stand at the forefront of quality, safety, and innovation in India’s technology landscape.
