In a significant move to promote women’s leadership in core industrial sectors, South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL), inaugurated its first fully women-operated Central Store Unit at the Central Workshop, Korba under Government of India’s Special Campaign 5.0.
The unit, managed by eight women officers and staff led by Ms. Sapna Ikka, Senior Manager (E&M) and IIT (ISM) Dhanbad alumna, will handle spare parts supply and inventory management using a modern SAP-based digital platform for efficiency and transparency.
The inauguration was conducted by SECL CMD Shri Harish Duhan, accompanied by senior officials including Directors N. Franklin Jaykumar, Biranchi Das, R.C. Mahapatra, and CVO Himanshu Jain. Outstanding women employees were felicitated during the event.
Shri Harish Duhan emphasized that the initiative follows the success of Coal India’s first women-operated dispensary at Bilaspur, marking a progressive step towards inclusive growth and gender leadership in the coal sector. The unit reflects Coal India’s commitment to Atmanirbhar Bharat and Nari Shakti se Rashtra Shakti.
