The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Tuesday announced the launch of the 71st round of its Order Books, Inventories and Capacity Utilisation Survey (OBICUS) for the reference period July–September 2025 (Q2 FY2025-26).
Conducted quarterly since 2008, the OBICUS survey collects key operational data from India’s manufacturing sector, including information on new and pending orders, inventories of raw materials, work-in-progress and finished goods, as well as production levels and capacity utilisation. The insights derived from the survey serve as valuable inputs for monetary policy formulation.
During this round, the RBI will reach out to selected manufacturing firms for participation. Other eligible manufacturers are also encouraged to take part by downloading the survey questionnaire from the RBI website under the ‘Forms’ section and submitting the completed form via email as per the instructions provided.
The RBI emphasised that all company-level data collected through the survey will remain confidential and will not be disclosed.
Survey findings are published regularly on the central bank’s website to provide a comprehensive view of trends in industrial activity and capacity utilisation in the country.
