India is strengthening cooperation among BRICS nations in the MSME sector under its BRICS Chairship 2026, with a focus on improving access to finance, technology and sustainable growth opportunities for micro, small and medium enterprises.
The Ministry of MSME, which leads the SME Working Group under the BRICS Partnership on the New Industrial Revolution (PartNIR), plans to host three SME Working Group meetings and the inaugural BRICS MSME Forum during its chairship year.
As part of these efforts, the Ministry successfully convened the second SME Working Group Meeting on May 26, 2026, centered on the theme "Enhancing Access to Technology for MSMEs." Discussions focused on technology commercialization, innovation adoption, and developing industry-ready skills to accelerate technology uptake among MSMEs.
Representatives from BRICS member countries shared experiences and best practices, emphasizing the critical role of MSMEs in driving economic growth, employment generation, innovation and inclusive development. The discussions highlighted the need for greater digital inclusion, stronger innovation ecosystems and improved technological readiness to help MSMEs integrate more effectively into regional and global value chains.
The meeting also underscored the importance of deeper collaboration among BRICS economies in areas such as technology access, skill development and innovation support, while fostering policy exchanges on common developmental challenges.
