Avantel Ltd has received a contract worth Rs 9.94 crore from the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, for the development and testing of satellite terminals for GSAT.
The contract, awarded on June 8, 2026, includes both manufacturing and related services. The total contract value of Rs 9.94 crore is inclusive of applicable taxes.
As per the terms of the agreement, the project is scheduled to be completed by December 2028 and carries a warranty period of 24 months.
The order has been awarded by a domestic entity and is expected to further strengthen Avantel's presence in the defence and satellite communication segment. The company clarified that neither its promoters nor promoter group entities have any interest in the awarding authority, and the contract does not fall under related-party transactions.
The order underscores Avantel's growing role in supporting indigenous defence and space communication programmes through advanced satellite communication technologies.
