Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has commissioned gas evacuation facilities at Khoraghat GGS-1 in Assam’s Golaghat district on August 18, 2026, enabling surplus associated natural gas from the Upper Assam Shelf to be processed and transported through the North East Gas Grid (NEGG) developed by Indradhanush Gas Grid Limited (IGGL).
The development follows the commissioning of the Dergaon–Dimapur Pipeline, which has linked Nagaland with both the North East Gas Grid and the National Gas Grid. The new connectivity will enable the utilisation of nearly 1 lakh Standard Cubic Metres (SCM) of gas per day from ONGC’s Jorhat asset.
ONGC is also developing hook-up facilities at Jantapathar and Kasomarigaon to connect additional producing fields from the Jorhat Asset to the North East Gas Grid. These projects are expected to increase regional gas availability, lower flaring and support the expansion of a gas-based economy in the North-East.
The enhanced gas supply is expected to benefit households, industries, transportation and power sectors, while supporting economic activity and infrastructure development across Assam and the wider North-Eastern region.
The combined infrastructure is aimed at strengthening gas connectivity across the region and supporting the development of the North-East as an important growth engine for India and a more integrated gas-based economy.
