Indian equity benchmarks remained under pressure in afternoon trade on Friday, with the Sensex tumbling more than 750 points and the Nifty50 falling below the 24,000 level.
The weakness was primarily driven by a sharp selloff in information technology stocks, which weighed heavily on overall market sentiment. Concerns over the sector's growth outlook triggered broad-based selling in IT counters, dragging the benchmark indices lower.
At 14:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 76684.96 down by -725.02 points or by -0.94 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23958.05 down by -209.95 points or by -0.87 %.
