Indian benchmark indices ended higher on July 9, recovering from the previous session's sharp decline, supported by broad-based buying across most sectors. However, gains were capped by weakness in auto and information technology stocks.
Profit booking in the latter half of the trading day erased a portion of the gains, but both the Sensex and Nifty managed to close comfortably in the green.
The 30-share benchmark index ended at 76741.82 up by 238.22 points or by 0.31 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23962.8 up by 80.75 points or by 0.34 %.
Sensex touched intraday high of 77326.65 and intraday low of 76576.14 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24134.7 and intraday low of 23925.7
The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1938.85,+2.70%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1932.10,+2.24%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 1894.25,+2.14%), InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 5228.60,+2.01%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 292.25,+1.99%), among others.
The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1050.05,-1.80%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 13728.40,-1.55%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 343.50,-1.51%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1299.00,-0.95%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 4555.45,-0.69%), among others.
