Stock market benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty surged on Friday, driven by a rally in IT firms after TCS reported an increase in its June-quarter net profit and guided towards an improvement in demand returning in the ongoing quarter.
Positive trend in global markets also drove the domestic equities higher during the initial trading.
At 10:25 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 77529.16 up by 787.34 points or by 1.03 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24210.75 up by 247.95 points or by 1.03 %.
Sensex touched intraday high of 77588.08 and intraday low of 77320.56 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24226.05 and intraday low of 24120.35
The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1844.20,+2.50%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 192.20,+2.34%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1453.90,+2.08%), InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 5335.90,+2.05%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2084.70,+1.80%), among others.
The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1913.80,-0.87%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 290.15,-0.72%), among others.
